Improved district-community communications by redoing the website, adding a student information system by which parents can access their child’s performance records, and creating a newspaper, The Compass, to update parents on school activities and initiatives

Technology upgrades included installing 500 new computers district-wide for 2007-2008 school year and having the high school go wireless

Statement "Since 2005, the BOE implemented notable changes in Guilford’s schools. The most important was establishing the ongoing priority of improving instructional quality throughout the district and creating a culture where high expectations and academic performance are the norm. We also began conducting national searches for candidates to fill staff openings; improved communications between the district and the community; secured school budget approvals in the 2006 and 2007 referendums; initiated collaborative bargaining with teachers--a contract negotiation process that improved the work environment and saved the town $50,000 in legal fees; and saved $250,000 over a five-year period by returning snow removal services to the town’s maintenance staff."
