Statement
"In my view, the BOE?s essential purpose is to improve classroom
instruction. Recently, the board oversaw the implementation of
Guilford?s first districtwide strategic plan, the adoption of new
curricula, and a substantial reduction in class size at the elementary
level. It also started an ambitious project using technology to improve
instruction and instituted zero-based budgeting.
If reelected, I will expand on this innovation and provide needed
resources for improved instruction, including professional development
for teachers and reduced class size. I want every person involved with
our schools to understand that we get only one chance to educate a
child, so it must be done right the first time."
